tuyshtak - or mt. diablo

I was able to drive around the mountain during the shut downs. in the language of the ohlone, the indigenous people whose territory we live on in the bay area, the name of the mountain is tuyshtak which is means "the dawn of time" according to this site. I learned that the place where I live near the mountain is almost 55 million years old.

there's so much beauty and life in the land. I found these moments of quiet away from people - before the official lockdown began. it makes me reflect on how this landscape has become such an important part of my sense of home, and place.
